Bri, a Portland native, earned her B.A. in english and theater at Portland State University. She has been performing improv and writing/performing sketch comedy for the past five years. Her current projects include: long-form improv troupe Dopamine, sketch comedy at Curious Comedy Theater, and working on and performing in Portland's original, improvised, serial, Fall of the House with Action/Adventure Theater (which she is also a proud member of). Outside of comedy Bri has also participated in "legitimate theater," (a phrase which she uses very loosely), performing in A/A's Flash Fiction event, the Portland 24 hour plays, and performing with Sight Theater Co., who specialize in educational theater for kids.
Bri's been a karaoke jockey at the Boiler room since 2008, usually on Thursdays and Saturdays. As a KJ, Bri tends to sing songs from motown, indie rock, the occasional show tune, and top 40 (aka Beyonce, Katy Perry, Rhianna). Her personal karaoke philosophy is simple: Choose a song you love and know well and commit to it. Impress her by singing anything by Stevie Wonder or Elton John. She will love you even if you choose to sing really shitty karaoke songs. In her humble estimation this includes: The entire catalog from Grease, some Eminem, Crazy Bitch by Buck Cherry, You've Lost that Lovin' Feelin' (sorry, blame it's inclusion in Top Gun and a traumatic experience Bri once had with that film), and Friends in Low Places. However, all is forgiven if you can truly rock one of these out... practice them somewhere else though.
